Sgt Douglas Springer
Proudly Served July 28, 1976 to August 1, 1996
Sgt. Douglas D. Springer had been loyal and dedicated police officer for the Village of Coldwater since July 28, 1976. Sgt. Springer always displayed professionalism and courage in the line of duty. His knowledge and actions led him to be a mentor to the members of the Village of Coldwater Police Department, all other Mercer County law enforcement agencies, village officials and employees.
Sgt. Springer started his law enforcement career in 1975, when he attended the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy. Sgt. Springer worked for the Village of Montezuma as their policeman from 1975 to 1976 when he started his career in the Village of Coldwater.
On July 31, 1996 Sgt. Springer responded to a call for assistance. After handling this call, Sgt. Springer had a heart attack and passed away shortly after midnight on August 1, 1996. He will be sadly missed by his fellow officers, village officials and the residents of the Village of Coldwater, OH.
Pastor James R. Sager
Police Advisory Board
Pastor James R. Sager passed away on September 4, 2004 in Dayton, OH. He was the pastor for the Coldwater United Methodist Church and also served on the Coldwater Police Department Advisory Board.
Pastor Sager was very much involved in the Village of Coldwater. His never ending smile will be remembered by all those who had the pleasure to meet him. He will be greatly missed.
