Services

Business Alert

This program is an information sharing program between the businesses and the police department.  Via the use of E-MAIL or FAX, the police department can quickly and efficiently provide crime information to the business community.  Contact Chief Randy Waltmire if you should have any questions.

Vehicle Unlocks

The police department is one of the last departments in the area to still provide this service.  The department has the necessary tools to safely get into most locked vehicles.

Fingerprinting

On an annual basis the department fingerprints most pre-school and kindergarten age school children.

Fingerprinting is available to village residents for employment or background purposes.  The department now submits fingerprints electronically. This new system costs $20.00 per person. This is due to fees charged to the police department to submit these fingerprints.  As of June 1, 2006 inked fingerprints will no longer be accepted for submission.

All checks should be made payable to : Village of Coldwater.  Fingerprinting will be done Monday thru Friday 8:00AM to 1:00PM.  Other times will require an appointment be made.

3rd Grade Safety Belt Program

The department puts on an annual 3rd Grade Safety Belt Program in which most 3rd grade students are instructed on safety belt usage.

Summer School Physical Education

An officer assists with the Coldwater Schools summer school physical education class.  Bike rides are used quite a bit during this program and a bike patrol officer rides along with the class to make sure they get to and from their destination safely.  This is an opportune time for the officer to interact with the kids to get to know them and for them to get to know the officer.

Vacation House Checks

Security checks are offered for residents who are vacationing or for vacant residences.  There is a form that can be filled out at the police department to give officers all necessary information needed to perform these checks.  The form is also available on-line.  Click here for the form. Just print off the form, fill it out and drop it off at the police department.

Bicycle Licenses

Village ordinance REQUIRES village residents to license all bikes.  The license does cost $1.00 and is non-expiring.  The department needs to see the bike to get the proper identification information from it and record it in case the bike is lost or stolen.  You can contact any on-duty officer to get a bike license.
